Multifaceted Landscape Design for Dynamic Musical Programming
A Creative Oasis for All Who Visit
Overview
The NMTS center acts as a hub for music therapy services and offers a year-round calendar of events both inside and out. In the new space, the accessible design will designate areas for private study, natural exploration, community performances, and play. The final result will be welcoming, vibrant, and durable for the high traffic of the busy center. Among the structural designs, plantings will saturate the space with blooming trees, shrubs, and blossoms for a breathtaking outdoor experience.
Design
To create an inviting and versatile space for the NMTS team, the design will feature a variety of landscape elements. Winding walkways and courtyards will weave through lush green areas, providing spaces for relaxation, while multi-layered planting beds will add both beauty and privacy to different areas. A central labyrinth will inspire student interaction and creativity while an open area for a community garden will encourage natural interaction with the space. Lastly, a large and accessible lawn will face the primary pavilion for performances and presentations.
Overall, the design will encourage students, teachers, and their guests to find unique places to collaborate surrounded by the natural wonder of the Reno, NV region. Students will be able to watch the landscape thrive and change and expand their creative goals in the beautiful environment.
