Residential Remodel: Poolscape Preservation and Improved Flow
Program
LandArt by FireSky Outdoor was chosen to resurrect the backyard of a 1976 home crumbling from years of neglect. The deck surrounding the Polynesian pool needed to go as did a structurally unsound retaining wall that prevented proper flow through the outdoor space. Without a clear gathering spot by the pool and an outdoor lighting system that no longer worked, the landscape was not living up to its full potential.
Design
To create more lounge areas around the pool and open up the outdoor space, a new terracing system was implemented and the design created around compelling the homeowners and their guests to enjoy the new gathering spots. A contemporary fire pit area, covered by a bold redwood pergola, provides respite from the sun and a fun space to hang out and take in the activities. An enticing water feature creates a scenic backdrop for the pool area and welcomes guests to the new spa. Planter formations break up the different spaces, adding to the visual appeal.
The new geometric design plays off of the pool, house, and property line. Belgard Catalina Grana Pavers with a charcoal border for the poolscape and walkway establish a more cohesive look and navigation. Belgard wall units were used to construct the beautiful water feature and walls. A new, wide stairway now connects the upper and lower terrace in a more cohesive way.
A new outdoor lighting system incorporates accent lights on some key new features so the homeowners can entertain day and night. Lighting within the new water feature allows the waterfall to dance and play in different colors. From the new plantings, fire and water features, and paver pool deck, every element of this landscape design gives the homeowners something to admire, from daytime to night time.
